Dinner or Dessert?
Pizza For Dinner (Or Dessert)
Pizza, for many of us, reaches deep into our upbringing. A coach may have said, “Great job tonight team! We are all going out for Pizza!” Or on another occasion, a family member may have asked what someone may have requested for a birthday dinner. A common response: Pizza! Who among us has not had some type of event in their childhood where a goal was reached and the reward was: A Pizza Party! Pizza, although Italian in creation, transcends every culture across the globe.
What is Pizza? Well, let’s start with the basics. Pizza always includes crust. Many variations exist today, whether deep dish or Neapolitan, stuffed or not, wheat or white…without crust there is no pizza. Crust is the foundation for a magnificent creation. Everyone agrees the crust is a must!

The next layer is a bit less agreed upon. Pizza requires something between the crust and the next layer. Right? Otherwise isn’t it just cheese bread? That’s the beauty of Pizza, it really allows you to make it your own. Many of us, who grew up in an Italian neighborhood, remember the aroma of fresh pizza dough baking in a hot oven, flavorful homemade sauce bubbling on the stove, and we were excited to be coming home from work (yes any kid who grew up in a neighborhood like that had at least one job) to a delicious meal.
A great many of us expect some variation of a tomato sauce on our pie, and that is a choice that almost can’t go wrong. However, thanks to the beauty of innovation in our great land, tomato sauce is not just as vanilla as well, um, vanilla! For example, check out our specialty pizza, where you will find BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, and other bases to change things up.
Other toppings vary wildly. Some of our favorites are also the most understated. Sicilian pizza with thick crust, homemade sauce, thick sliced peperoni (spelled the Italian way) and Pecorino Romano cheese sprinkled over the top. However, these days, you can get your pizza customized in a variety of ways. Choose our Brick Oven or Specialty Pizza, and you will be satisfied either way!
At the end of it all, enjoy your pie. Pie? Wait, is this Pizza Dinner? or Desert?
